About Us
The Song Placement Pros songwriter community was established in 2017 as an independent songwriter development and industry strategy division of Merf Music Group (MMG), an award-winning publishing and artist development company.
Ray Hamilton, CEO of MMG, has been active in the music industry since 1994 as a songwriter, producer, and publisher. Over the years, he has developed professional relationships with record labels, producers, music supervisors, songwriters, and recording artists in the United States and internationally. In 2007, MMG launched on Music Row with encouragement from Hall of Fame songwriter and former BMG executive Roger Murrah.
In 2016, MMG celebrated its first major-label artist cut on Miranda Lambert’s album “The Weight of These Wings.” The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Country Albums chart, reached No. 3 on the Billboard 200, was certified Platinum by the RIAA, won ACM Album of the Year, and has been recognized by multiple industry publications.
MMG has participated in artist development ventures, including early-stage collaboration with Ashley McBryde prior to her signing with Warner Music Nashville. Over the years, MMG has contributed to projects associated with Grammy-nominated albums, Emmy-recognized performances, and CMA and CMT-nominated recordings.
To date, MMG-affiliated projects have included major-label and independent cuts with artists such as Trisha Yearwood, Eric Church, Ashley McBryde, Sister Sadie, Pam Tillis, Lorrie Morgan, Randy Rogers, Wade Bowen, Trent Tomlinson, and Gary Chapman, among others.
The company has also been involved in music placements associated with major broadcast and streaming platforms including Netflix, CMT, TNT, A&E, FOX, ABC, CBS, and Discovery.
Throughout its history, MMG team members have facilitated co-writes and creative collaborations with established songwriters and recording artists across multiple genres.
